Euro 2008 team profile: Italy
Italy
World Champions in 2006 with a trademark execution of a gameplan, and with a similar core of players they must have every chance of repeating that success. Ambled through qualifying with France yet will have to be on their game from the start in the group of death.
Totti is absent but del Piero remains and Donadoni has plenty of options all over the field. Several players have real star potential in attack, where the Azzuri have struggled for many years. If one of them clicks they would be favourites for any game.
